Ever see the "perfect" Chaos Axe going for 100k and 50 Ectos? Ever see how much the price of Ecto fluctuates? We need a monetary item that has a fixed value that can be obtained at storage or the merchant. 100k would garner a platinum brick (or anything that fits the game world) worth exactly that, 100k.

What’s better?

WTS Perfect XXXX, 100k + 50 Ectos or 100 Shards
or
WTS Perfect XXXX, 3 Bricks

(And yes, I know, it would be better if things weren't so expensive, but that’s not the point of this post)

I agree, sort of like how SOJs were the form of currency in D2. Ectos fluctuate too much to be used.

100k plus ectos is not really a problem. Yes it is fact that the price fluctuates, however it is the salesmans problem if he sits on the ecto and the price goes down. As of right now, ecto can be sold to the trader for 10k exactly. It will change, but if you take the money and sell the ecto, then you will make the desired amount of money. Plus, maybe the person selling the item wants the ecto, intead of spending tons of time farming them.
That said, having a higher monetary unit is not a bad idea at all, though not necessary enough for Anet to implement it. In my oppinion.
